Warning to Zimbabweans: Stay Away from Protests in Harare on 31st March 2025

Harare, Zimbabwe — March 29, 2025 — As a Zimbabwean watching from the side lines I  am urging Zimbabweans to stay away from the planned protests in Harare, organized by Blessing Geza, scheduled for the 31st of March, 2025. As tensions rise between factions of the ruling Zanu PF party,  I must warn that the demonstrations are not a battle for ordinary citizens and could put them at significant risk.

The protests, which have been billed as a show of opposition to the government, are in reality a power struggle within the ruling Zanu PF party. While some might view these events as an opportunity to express political dissatisfaction, it is crucial to recognize that this is a fight between factions of Zanu PF, rather than a cause directly related to the welfare of the Zimbabwean people.

Political analysts stress that when major political factions clash, the consequences are often felt most severely by those who are not directly involved. “When elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers,” a local proverb warns, and it’s the Zimbabwean public that could face the brunt of this conflict. Violence, civil unrest, and disruptions to everyday life are often the result when large political groups vie for power.

Authorities have already expressed concerns about the potential for unrest, and citizens are being strongly advised to avoid the areas where the protests are expected to occur. Security forces are on high alert, and there is a real danger of innocent bystanders getting caught in the crossfire.

Furthermore, with the current state of the economy and the fragile political environment, participating in such protests could lead to greater instability, with severe consequences for the national security and well-being of Zimbabweans. As citizens, the priority should be the pursuit of peace, safety, and stability, rather than engaging in political conflicts that do not represent the interests of the wider public.

In light of these risks, Zimbabweans are advised to remain home on the 31st of March and avoid the protests entirely. The political struggles within Zanu PF are their own to resolve. The safety and future of the nation depend on a collective effort to stay united and avoid being swept up in conflicts that serve only to further divide the country.

Zimbabweans are encouraged to focus on building a peaceful, prosperous nation by staying away from violence and political chaos. Your safety and well-being should always come first, and participating in these protests could put you at unnecessary risk.

Stay safe, stay informed, and avoid the chaos.
